Moti Raj was established in 1974 by Matin Miah and Syed Jamal Meah, and the restaurant is currently run by their respected family Syed Shafiqul Islam who is Syed Jamal Meah's son and his business partner Syed Shoyjhad Miah. We are the only Indian restaurant in Sunderland to have been awarded the AA guide of excellence, an honour that we are very proud of. Our chefs have also won many other awards including the Pat Chapman's good curry guide award. Our restaurant is fully air conditioned and is decorated to a very high standard so our guests have a great atmosphere to enjoy our delicious food in. Moti Raj is renowned for giving customers good value for money and from this we have over 2000 regular customers who are happy to recommend us. Went to the opening night on Saturday 7th of June. Excellent starter and main meal to try. Good wine list, quality restaurant refurbishment, beautifully set out. Staff learning quickly. Well worth a visit
